Adding and Configuring Device Drivers
You must add and configure at least one device in Galileo Print Manager.net before host data processing can occur. Add as many device drivers as you need (assuming the host computer has the resources to support them).
Notes:
-
If you are connecting to a network printer, make sure that you have the correct permissions. See Configuring Network Printer Permissions or Printing to a Network Printer in a Workgroup Environment. This might not be required for ATB or MIR devices, depending on your setup.
-
The PDF to Printer driver included in the Galileo Print Manager.net installation does not create actual Portable Document Format (PDF) files. It enables a PDF from the host to be printed to a normal Windows printer. However, you can configure an itinerary driver that points to third-party software (such as PDF24 Creator) in order to create PDFs. For details, see Creating PDF Files.
-
In the GPM.NET Configuration window, click Add Device to add and configure a device driver.
Note: For information about the GPM.NET Configuration window, see Using the GPM.NET Configuration Window.
The first Add Device wizard dialog box appears:
-
Specify relevant information for your device.
-
Select the type of device to add and configure, a unique device (ordinal) number, and a name of your choosing for this device.
Note: The device name must include only alpha characters (no numeric or special characters). Space characters are allowed.
- If you are upgrading from a previous version of GPM or Galileo Print Manager.net, use the same ordinal number mappings.
Tip: Certain characters cannot be used, depending on the parameter. For example, in the Device Name field, you cannot use numeric or special characters (for example, @, $, &, or ?). Such characters will not appear when typed if the field does not allow them.

The next Add Device wizard dialog box appears.
Note: The next Add Device wizard dialog box that appears varies based on the type of device driver selected in the Printer Type field. To continue setting up your device driver, see the topic that corresponds to your selected device driver:
